Hello, I'm getting some pretty bad lag on the custom sniper server & I can't figure it out. Now bare with we 'cause I'm pretty computer illiterate but I recently upgraded my viddy card to play UT3 & it plays perfect at around 45-60 fps but now it seems that the good 'ol UT is having issues. Should I fiddle with the settings on my card? I was playing a bit tonight & when "infinity city" map started my computer got MAJOR lag that lasted till after the game shut down??? It sucks :( Now keep in mind it played just fine before I installed the card. Anybody got any ideas???

Here are my specs:

Windows XP, Version 5.1.2600
Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2160 @ 1.80GHz
232.84 GB HD
1 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT

Thanks in advance!
Chris

how about you ping?

not only the video card or the HW specifications are the causes for lagg. connection too.

maybe was only a time when you entered to the server and it was a bad ping.

Try again and check your ping. 100 to 140 i thinks is decent.. more than 250 is bad.... 500 is.. soooooooo bad..... les than 100 is excelenttttt.

But anyway... try to play again and check it. Maybe was only a bad day on the server.

because if you said, that UT3 runs great, and the Old UT runs great too, until now..thats mean that is not your pc. is something else.

C ya.

Draco Know best of this than me. Hope he can help us :D and teach me some things too :D

Well actually my ping is around 40-50 (I must be close by) so that hasn't been an issue before. I tried using OpenGL as opposed to direct3d & that seemed to help just a little but it was still lagging. Then I got on playing UT3 with a ping of around 90 & it was running fast & smooth  Oh well I need some coffee devils

Give this little test a try. Fire up UnrealTournament and minimize by hitting F12 or the windows key. Then open task manager and go to the processes tab. Find UnrealTournament.exe in the list and right-click on it. Go to 'Set Affinity' and click that. Just make sure that you only have 1 cpu checked. Maximize the game, connect to the server, and see how it runs. Let us know.

Well hey man that did the trick devils Much much better. I saw something earlier when googling about a patch or something that will automaticly switch to 1 cpu when I start the game. Should I try to get that or stick with doing it manually every time I start the game?

Just replace your UnrealTournament.exe inside your system folder with this one and it will automatically set the single core when you fire up the game.

Have a good one.
