Ok chief, I have a couple of answers for ya.

First, turn off Daemon Tools, for some reason this causes a conflict with the game and will not get past the splash screen.

Next, make sure you are not running anything extra in the background that takes resources away.

If that don't work, then apply second story theory to the situation.

**Second story theory**

Upon failure to run an application properly, unplug the machine in question and take it to a second story of a building. Open a window and toss said machine out the window. During the free fall said machine will go through tumbles until it will abruptly stop when it hits the ground. Once on the ground take said machine home and plug it back in and turn it on and the application did not work before, will not work now. Hence you build new machine.

First and foremost, pay more attention than usual to the system requirements. They are (for a change) the true "no sh*t" requirements to be able to even fire up the game. The *only* machine to which I have regular access that's capable of running UT3 is my dual-core notebook, and I've got a few not-too-shabby machines in the stable.

Look at it this way -- you *really* needed an excuse to upgrade your hardware, didn't you?? :D Good news is, with UT99 the machine will run like a scalded ape

Another thing that can cause the above is trying to apply an official UT3 update to the demo version of the game. Won't work -- don't even bother trying.

Hey man, I dunno if you're still having this prob but I was getting the exact same error & I upgraded my vid card today & it works perfectly now. If you need some more info just let me know. I'm not very computer savy but I researched this for awhile & it finally paid off.

I hope this helps,
