I feel that the amount of cheaters on our servers is slowly rising. The anti-cheat that is in place now works great for UScript bots, but that is about it. Someone comes onto the server running a hook based cheat and this pretty much goes out the window. There have been a few guests on our servers that appear to be cheating but, without a log to back-up the suspicion, I can't, with a clear conscience, ban them. Therefore, I must install UTDC back onto the server. I need UTDC primarily for the screenshot capabilities and it's ability to scan for Hooks. Those who had issues connecting in the past will more than likely have the same issues again. You can meet with me to help clear these issues up.
In an attempt to minimize those that may be having troubles, I strongly recommend that you download and install update 451B (http://utpg.org/)(be sure to back-up User and UnrealTournament.ini's out of your UT system folder before Update). This will remove any troubles with the game shutting down for no reason and no errors upon connection to our server. Next, if you have a firewall of any kind, TURN IT OFF before connecting. The UTDC scan is a 2 way thing that cannot be blocked by ZoneAlarm or Windows Firewall or anything else like that.
I will be installing UTDC onto the Practice Server first and hope to have the rest of the servers running it before the end of the week. Please visit the Practice server at 66.128.51.236:7777 (password is temporarily disabled)and find out if you will indeed have issues. You want to have a second person with you. UTDC won't activate until a second person joins. If you have it installed and all works well, you will see the UTDC emblem in the top center of the screen and then you should be able to continue playing. If you need to install the necessary files, a window with download and Install will pop up. Please try clicking install. If the game exits without error than you have installed the files correctly. If it errors, reconnect and try the install option again. If it still errors out, reconnect to the server and select the download option. The game will exit and you will be asked where to save the zip file. Place the zip file on your desktop and then unzip it. Place all the contents in your UT system folder and then start the game and reconnect to the server. If it still will not let you play, please contact me and we will get it resolved on your machine.
If anything goes wrong, please feel free to PM me or meet me on TS and I'll be more than happy to help you get whatever issues resolved. I apologize if this causes anyone any issues but it is a necessary evil. I have left UTDC off up to this point as a matter of convenience and to avoid the inevitable headaches but the large volume of traffic to our server has made it too difficult for a spectating "watch-dog" to keep track of.
