In Windows XP, Mouse acceleration supposedly makes using Windows
easier. This is actually true but it is a death sentence for gamers. To
improve your game, disabling this is a must. However, there is a bug in XP that
prevents Windows from totally disabling this feature. There are some Registry
changes that need to be done. The file to change this is provided.
Here is how to disable Mouse Smoothing. Go to Start>Control Panel>Mouse and
then select 'Pointer Option'. Remember, you made need to switch the Control
Panel to classic view to be able to see the Mouse Icon. Under the 'Pointer
Option' tab, Make sure you UNCHECK the box for 'Enhance Pointer
Precision'. Click apply. Then download the mouse_fix.reg file from this post and
then double click it. Follow the prompts and approve the registry change. Once
this is done, reboot the computer. You will need to adjust your in-game sensitivity.
Have a good one.

I did something similar to this at work on my PC, applying it to my home PC I had all sorts of weird and wonderful problems. But me being me, I have done it anyway - I like a challenge!

I'll check this out and see what happens. Hopefully the mouse "earthquake" jitters you get (the view shakes all by itself - residual effect of the mouse sensor) will be a thing of the past. Also more precise aiming might help - those sodding bots sometimes get you if you don't hit them first time.

Mine does the same thing at times but it's caused by cat hair getting stuck
in the laser sensor. My next question is does it happen with other mice or
just the current mouse and what kind of mouse are you currently using? If
your running a high DPI laser mouse, you need to get a hard-surfaced
mousepad because lasers don't track well on certain surfaces.

I use a genius Xscroll. I think the beam doesn't like the table top (might be the beer and stuff stuck to it). I hate mouse mats - you've seen my desktop, believe me there is no room on my desk either. But the mouse will wander all by itself. That said this is the first reboot I have done, but can't test now, will have to do later.

I remember doing something like that during a match. Only I think it was the keyboard for keys not working.

Hope you can get that fixed KiWi

I usually punch my keyboard or slam the mouse. Spilling beer on the keyboard or mouse isn't recommended, lost 2 keyboards (one was from spew - I was having a bad day that day) and a few mice that way. Happy days. One reason I don't spend a lot on my kit.

Dunno. If DPI makes the difference, the first one wins, but I'm sure Draco/Motor or some other mouse geek will tell you.

The ROCK mouse is a 3G laser so it's a newer technology but the Gigabyte laser
is still nothing to sneeze at. I would say chose the one you want while keeping
in mind the shape of the mouse will also effect how you play drastically. Some
like huge mice that you palm while others like the smaller profile ones that you
use your fingertips for. If you are looking for more buttons that you can use
in your mouse hand, look at which one provides that.

Me, personally, I love having High DPI. I run mine full throttle at 4000 dpi and
adjust the sensitivity in-game way down.

Just think of DPI like this especially if you are in to mapping and modeling.
Both programs for mapping and modeling have a function called 'snap to grid'
which means that your cursor will always move in increments of say an inch
for example. Every time you move your cursor within that inch and tried to
click, it will automatically place your cursor at either one end of the inch or
the other. Think of that as a 800 DPI mouse. Now you take a 3200 DPI
mouse and suddenly it shrinks that inch down to a 1/4 of an inch and your
cursor is only moved a quarter of inch. Just imagine that on a much smaller
scale in-game and you'll understand the differences.

Hopefully, yall can understand that. To me it's about as clear as mud but I
think I got my thoughts straight. hysthysthysthyst Have a good one.

I have a laser mouse and I detest mouse pads. So I went to a craft store and got a black poster board. I cut it to fit on my little spot by my keyboard and then taped all the edges. Works like a charm!

Nope best mouse is the Mamba http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/razer-mamba 5000 DPI and it has a 1 millesecond respoce time + totally adjustable X/y + accelerators can be run wireless or wired. Have been running this one now for 2 weeks its like sliding on ice. Honestly it makes my old standard Logitec wireless mouse seem like a cinder block.

Back in the day use to run 3 razer BoomSlangs until the last one crashed in 2003 http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/razer-boomslang

I got me the Lachesis about 2 months before they released the Mamba. I
found myself in a Dilemma at BestBuy staring at one contemplating why I
should get it when I have a perfectly functioning Lachesis. I decided that
the performance increase really wasn't worth the $120 price tag. Once my
current mouse dies, I'll step out and spend the cash. I have to agree with
you Razer makes the best mice without argument.
