Everyone remember that voice client we tried called MoHawk. Myself and several
others really liked it but it's undoing is the fact that they aren't going to offer
any servers for private use. Like Ventrilo, they were only going to offer 8 slot
servers for free. Shockwave offers 500 slots free.ShockVoice is very much like
Teamspeak with quite a few more additions. It sounds great and is as easy and
as self-explanatory as TeamSpeak to use.

Give it a try. You can download the client software from ShockVoice (http://www.shockvoice.net/page/overview) and install
it. You add a new connection almost exactly as you would in TS. The audio
config is easy as well. See yall in the there.

No one around I can talk to to test it with! Though if it makes Corn sound better then that is an improvement.

The sound quality is the same if not better than Vent.

I think if we are going to try this that we need to get more people in the clan involved and really put this program through its paces.

After doing some research on the engine for this program, I am liking it even more.

For those that have TeamSpeex on a Mac, this is using the same audio engine (Speex). This explains a little on why the clarity is so much better. Not because of the Mac thing, I would have to explain next time I have a chance to talk to someone.

...a state-of-the-art voice communication tool primarily developed for online gamers but suited for all kinds of large scale meetings that requires low latency and ease of use.

http://www.shockvoice.net/images/dl091.png (http://www.shockvoice.net/page/dlfile/file=svclient-0.9.1.2577-win32.zip)
ATTENTION: WHEN YOU UPGRADE YOUR CLIENT TO 0.9.1, BE AWARE THAT YOU WONT BE ABLE TO CONNECT TO 0.8.4 SERVERS ANYMORE. THE VERSIONS ARE INCOMPATIBLE

See the complete changelog here (http://www.shockvoice.net/page/news)

Get Shockvoice® now! Install the client and connect to one of our official servers by clicking on this link.

Shockvoice® Official #1 (svlink://sv-server.com:8040) or Shockvoice® Official #2 -Admin Mode- (svlink://sv-server.com:8050)

Shockvoice® is developed in C# and is targeted to run with either .NET or Mono on Windows, Linux and Mac when it's finished. Currently supported are Windows for the client, and Windows and Linux for the server.
So what are the difference to other voice tools and why should you choose Shockvoice® over them you ask? Read on below...
We have one of the lowest latencies available

That's right, there is hardly any software available that even comes close to the low latency Shockvoice® has to offer. And if you're playing eSports titles, you know that half a second makes a huge difference. Feel free to use one of our test servers to feel the difference yourself. Of course additional to the low latency, we also have a superb voice quality to offer.

Shockvoice® can be administrated right out of the client.

http://www.shockvoice.net/screens/svadmin.jpg
Tired of using complicated web interfaces to change settings or permissions? Look no further. Shockvoice® can be administrated right out of the client without any hassle. Just choose what you want to do and you can change settings like giving a user permissions or tweaking server settings in just seconds.

Shockvoice® has a status system as found in IM software.

http://www.shockvoice.net/screens/svstatus.jpg
Going away for food or have to take a call? Just set your status and everybody on the server can see it. Shockvoice® now brings to voice chat tools what IM clients had for years. You can also easily configure how your status affects your speaker and microphone settings. For example if you set status "Away" your microphone is off, but you can still hear. Switch to "On the phone" and the speakers shut off so you're not interrupted.

Shockvoice® can send voice messages.

You have to tell something to a friend but he's not online right now? Just leave a voice message and he can listen and respond later.

Shockvoice® has a builtin whiteboard

http://www.shockvoice.net/screens/svwhiteboard.jpg
Ever have to speak about tactics for your game and you think "If I could just show it on a map that would be so much easier" ? No problem if you're using Shockvoice®. Just load your map into the whiteboard and draw on it. Your mates will instantly see what you're talking about and speaking about tactics will be so much easier. Of course you can use the whiteboard without a map, too, and draw whatever you like for others to see.

Shockvoice® supports Logitech G15.

Shockvoice® supports the Logitech G15 Keyboard out of the box, so if you own one of these you will be able to use it easily.

Shockvoice® has a builtin media player.

http://www.shockvoice.net/screens/svmedia.jpg
Ever wanted to listen to loud music while playing your favorite game but you're bugged by the fact that you cannot hear your mates speak then? We have the solution for that problem. The media player in Shockvoice® will automatically control the volume of your music or video so as soon as somebody speaks it will go down and up again afterwards. So now you can listen to music as loud as you want without missing a thing.

Shockvoice® has a builtin browser.

http://www.shockvoice.net/screens/svbrowser.jpg
The builtin browser in Shockvoice® allows you to point people who connect to your server to a website you choose. This can be your clan website, but it could also be something different like a table of upcoming matches or whatever you like.

Flexible and easy to use permissions management.
Pluginsystem to make it possible for people to extend both server and client with new features.

I would like everyone to give this at least a fair chance. Please download and check
it out. I'll get to work on inputting all your login info from TS into this so that you can
login and check out all the options it provides. Have a good one.

Whats wrong with TS? it's free, and it works and it's familiar to members and guests. Maybe it's just me but when another clan uses ventrillo or something else I just don't bother to try because it's likely not worth the bs that it can create just to stop in to say hi. No need to threaten, just do it if you must but take into consideration no one was clamoring for a replacement so why bother upsetting the applecart.

THE_PHIL

you dont neeed to remove TS..HELL I was never even considering that. But if you try shock you will notice a difference, and its just as easy as TS to use. virtually took me 15 min from click to DL and on talking!!

See now theres the problem. I myself do not use TS much because it takes a millisecond to long to load, sound quality is not great + latency issues on occasions. ye it works and we have all used it for years but SV is much better quality wise all around. As a team there should be one standard thats why all the other applications failed in any attempt of use. Sure leave it on your system and use it for other groups but for FUN SV should be the only option. Played on the World class server the other day with Other FuN clans all they were using was SV.

Ok so you would rather stick with an tried and true 8086 processor vs. i7?

Hell I like antique cars too but i wouldn't do my 200 mile a day commute in one.

Whoa, slap that boner down Jazz. If you think it's that great then can TS. I was stating my opinion that it's not worth the upheaval for me to have to screw with it. Whatever Draco wants is what [FUN]will do. I never had an 8086 but the only reason to upgrade your hardware is when it is no longer able to do what you need it to do. TS does everything that I need it to do.

I'd give the new one a go to see if it is better (when I get time, and someone to talk to). I'd use it if the quality is much better that TS, I have an issue hearing some people.

I generally fire TS up then go in game, I don't use it in anything else, and I don't have split screen so I can see who has come in. That said I agree with X in that I can't be arsed to install Ventrillo if I go on another server, typing is fine.

Perhaps I can talk to Neo on it later to test it when I kick his arse?

X I hope I did not get you upset or anyone else for that matter. I posted the suggestion and that was all it was a suggestion....but I did post it for an alternative reason; that was to see if that would promote conversation. Over the past 2 years I have seen alternatives to TS come up, 2 or 3 folks respond but for the most part the conversation is like crickets in the night. Now that either means people do not care OR switching is not an option. For me TS never was all that great but was the only game in town.
