Looks like Punkbuster on the CoD server and Windows 7 aren't the best friends: I get kick all the time, sometimes on joining, sometimes up to 30 seconds in the game...
Punkbuster's site say it doesn't support BETA software and will not do such. So it's probally waiting until the Final version is out there, or until they get their act together and make something that works on Windows 7.
If anyone finds anything that might help, let me know! I got the latest Punkbuster release for CoD and I'm running Windows 7 RC, build 7100.

Don't know if this will have anything interesting on here

This may interest you. Does strike me as a faff. The bloke in the article is it appears on about CoD4, but the Punkbuster error is the same

Well, until PunkBuster can get its shit straight, I have disabled Punkbuster on the server. I figure we don't really get all that much traffic on there and I know all our members are clean. It'll remain off until it is needed. Have a good one.

Check this out as well

Now going back to http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=faq-cod.php
It mentions "Experiment with the pb_sleep setting ... try setting it to 20, 250, or 500 to see if that affects your game performance. A few players have reported that all the problems go away when they "tweak" this setting."
Now that relates to performance, not crashes. But sleep settings? The first link above talks of people being able to play 25 minutes before being kicked. Why? Has to be something going on there, but what is sleep setting 500?

Oh I forgot to mention. Sites mention PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe
I just have PnkBstrB.exe under C:\Program Files\Call of Duty Game of the Year Edition\pb
But I have both under Windows\System32. My anti-virus has an exception for PnkBstrB.exe (I must have set this), so suggests that after patching PnkBstrA.exe is not used?

Try again - this looks more promising
Interestingly the suggestion of changing the reg key entry from 1 to 100 is odd.
I run XP. I have PnkBstrA running as a service. I have the PnkBstrB files, and I assume these are running when I fire up the game. Unless PnkBstrB is unique to Windows 7?
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\servic es\PnkBstrB]
Going back to the time people managed to play until kicked - if there is a suggestion increasing this to 100 works, how about making it even bigger?
Anyway this post on the site sounds more feasible - installing the game etc in compatibility mode?

"I was unable to play BF2 and BF2142 on beta build 7000 and 7100 started messing with it again a few days ago. I was unable to run my games until I did the following below. I hope this works for you guys. I tried everything I could think of to install and run my games. None of the web fixes or work arounds I found worked for me
1. Place your game disk in your cd/dvd drive once it loads Don't choose the auto install instead open the folder to view the files using windows explorer.
2. Once the folder opens look for the game's Setup application. Right click on it and choose properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and check Run this program in Compatibility for Windows XP SP3. Also check mark the box for run this program as an administrator. Click Apply then ok.
3. Now double Click on Setup and install your game.
4. Once the game installs Click on Compatibility and check Run this program in Compatibility for Windows XP SP3. Also check mark the box for run this program as an administrator Click Apply then ok.
5. If your patching the game do the same thing again for the patch. Right click on the Setup for the patch and choose properties. Click on Compatibility and check Run this program in Compatibility for Windows XP SP3. Also check mark the box for run this program as an administrator Click Apply then ok. Then double click and install the patch.
6. Go to Evenbalnce and downloaded the pbsetup. Create a folder on your desktop and name it whatever you want. Once it's extracted do # 2 & 3 again. Right click on pbsetup and choose properties. Click on Compatibility and check Run this program in Compatibility for Windows XP SP3. Also check mark the box for run this program as an administrator Click Apply then ok. Then install PB by double clicking and install the patch.
7. Once PB loads add your games and upload any new updates for them. Don't do anything else for PB. I didnt !
8. Try running your games and see what happens. Following these steps is the only way I got my games to work without getting kicked out of the servers with a API error(s) I've been playing for two days now without any problems.
I now will follow this procedure for every thing I will install on my PC while using Windows 7. I had probs installing my bluetooth dongle today until I did the above for the setup application it worked again "

You can always test on other servers with BrumBuster installed when you get time?
