View Full Version : Alien Skin
Hi! I've been playing on your server a lot recently, and will probably continue this trend, but I wanted to mention that I think the Alien Skin gives the person who uses it too much of an advantage. I noticed when MK used it, how it would do cartwheels and such, and it being very skinny made it difficult to hit him. I never actually got to kill him, because the skin made it so easy for him to avoid my hits. Not sure if anyone else has notice, but I was thinking maybe the skin should be removed from the server? It just seems like an unfair advantage. I'm not saying he's not good, cause he does have a good shot, but if no one else can hit him, there's not much competition for him. Sorry for the long ramble, but wanted to fully explain myself. Also, here's a screenie of the alien skin he uses.

I remember coming in on a team game and I saw this green alien. Problem is team colours are red and blue. I stopped and thought "What the hell is that?" then got fragged. I was naturally on the other side - but it was not obvious immediately.
I find a lot of players seem very fast, and someone explained you are just as fast as well - if just doesn't seem it.
I have also played against someone dressed as a jester - that is fun when they don't react and move like a bot.
Everyone has their favorite skins, and you could say some colour schemes and styles work best on some maps and not others. But we all have preferences.
If the Alien skin if neutral and on a dark level makes it more difficult to see, then I suppose it would give an unfair advantage (more an issue in camping), but then again most players are good enough to do to spotting.
It's more or less the thing with the cartwheels. Instead of side dodges, that's what the skin allows. And when it moves like that it's harder to see, but if I'm the only one having an issue, then obviously, I wouldn't worry about it. I guess I just need to look harder.
BTW, I'm dressed as a Jester, but not to seem like a bot, I just like the skin. =-)

Well, that particular skin is not loaded on the server any more. We run mod called Valavater, which means if you downloaded the skin from another server and cached cleaned it, it will be visible on your system. When I play against MK, I only see a commando skin. My suggestion is to locate the skin in question on your system and deleting it.

Pie...Not hard to hit that skin...The problem is that your eyes want naturally to decipher what detailed movement is happening...By then your dead...When he moves to the right...lead him a little bit farther to the right...push and hold your fire button and move your player to the left...keep your aiming recticle at head height...this is the best way to strafe him...If he moves to the left...lead him a little bit farther to the left...same thing push and hold your fire button and move your player to the right to strafe back over him...Strafing works like a horizontal table saw...:D...Don't get caught up in watching the movement of the figure and aiming...shoot at an area...around head height...zone out and don't watch the detail...its like never watching from the hips up on a football player thats running at you...you will just get faked...Also study good boxers...and how they move in the ring...learn to move to cut the player off in 45 to 90 degree angles dependent on his lateral direction...Lastly... try to spec players like gcypher and draco and machine...they all have quick side to side movement while strafing and are hellish one on one...Good Luck! I had the same problem with MK, what am I talking about hyst hyst I still have that problem with MK. I deleted the alien skin from my system and that helps a lot. But he is just to good for me. Some players have that. But you need to remember that it is all just a game and play it for fun.

The only skins on the server at this time are the HaloMasterChief skin, the jesters, and the predator skin. To avoid having to see it anymore, just run your cache cleaner and then open your Textures folder. Delete any file with alien or aqueen in the name. Next, go to your system folder and do the same thing. Next time you connect, you'll see MK as a regular commando. Also, you can repeat the same process to eliminate all the dark skins like other clan skins and the assassin skins. I believe that, if you fire the game up and select the mod tab, then select use default models, the game will force everyone you see to default models only. It will do away with any of the custom models like our predator, halo, and alien skin, but it will do nothing for the black crutch or cheater skins(which ever you wanna call them). Have a good one.

I appreciate the help guys, and deleted the files from my system & texture folders. Now, we'll see how good he really is, lol. And I do just play in fun. I never expect to win, it's just fun trying.
Also, I actually used to be pretty close with Machine on how well I used to play. He and I rivaled on the TKK server over a year ago. So, I get what you're saying. =-)

How would one enable for use, the jester skin? It isn't in my skin list anywhere.

Yes, the Alien skin is difficult to hit. I have deleted it as well.

You have to download the entire Jester skin pack. There's only about 1 or 2 files your missing that the server doesn't automatically download for you. Then, you can use it. Just download it from: http://redirect.pet-passion.net/FUNdownloads/JesterSkins.zip
Then, follow the instructions in the read me file. Overwrite any files if necessary, then you're set.

After you download it from our site, unzip the files. Place the utx files into the textures folder in your unrealtournament and the int and u files into your system folder in unrealtournament. When you fire the game up, you should be able to go to Options>player setup and drop down the selection box for class and you'll see jester there. Have a good one.

Greetings Pie
Welcome to the FUN freestyle server.......Nice to see you on the other night, I enjoyed our games.....thank you. I also remember you from TKK (crouch and shoot).
The alien skin and any other skin are just that "a skin".....the head is always the same size and in the same place on the body despite what skin you use.
When you see the Alien skin doing cartwheels, it is just running like any other skin.
To shoot 'MK' just do as 'JJcc' said and it's easy, you'll even get a headshot if your aim is steady at the right level because he rarely jumps or crouches and runs straight into your fixed aim.
I really enjoy playing against MK, He makes my games much more enjoyable. He is a good player and a good shot, he knows his favorite maps very well. (If he doesn't know the map or he gets a bad start (lol) he usually leaves and comes back later).

Hi Catt!
I remember you from both servers as well. I rarely play on the TKK Camping server though, unless it's a full server, the game runs a little too slow for me.
I appreciate the tip, but have already deleted the Alien skin from my folders, and he still has that skill there, so I don't ALWAYS hit him, but I do feel it helped a bit.
