Compromised Hotmail Account

Well, looks like my hotmail account has been compromised. I am working on correcting this but its not looking to good.

My main system is currently be scanned by a couple of virus scanners but no luck. I am looking for any suggestion on this because MS help is pretty much useless.

Mike, if you really need to clean your system good then use this. Ask Phil. I got systems clean that nobody thought I could. http://www.surfright.nl/en/HitmanPro If you use this the first time, then it's free for about 1 month trail. After that you need to buy a license. Even if you uninstall the program after using, next time you download it, they have some kind of check and you'll have to pay for it. But is does the job quick and very good. If you need McAfee 8.5i or 8.7i both include anti spyware then let me know.

Is your account locked on hotmail? Can you still get in?

one of the best solutions is go in and cahnge the pasword to the hot mail account , thats what was comprimised , then run malwarebytes that should fix the prob if not, new hoit mail is required.

That HitManPro is a pretty slick program. It fixed an issue I was having with a virus that was redirecting all my search queries making my searches frustrating and useless after nothing else, not even malwarebytes could do the job. If it's hotmail, chances are someone hacked your on-line mail account, not your computer. Do what PYRO said.

Oh I am running everything possible. MS solution is to run a Malware program of their own. It found nothing on my system due to the fact that I run portable apps and for web browsing nothing is kept for a long period of time.

This is even more puzzling because if you look at the time stamp on the email. Both of my systems were shutdown at that time. MS is saying that is something on the my machine. But when I have more time I will find out.

No logs indicated someone remotely switched it on either?

If both were off, it has to be the account not the computer.

Make sure you clean the pc first, before you change the pass :)

It probable was one of those damn links people send you offline, they vary from hey is this you? (link) To haaa i got a nude pic of you check it out(link)..It screws up your online account and makes you send those offline junk links as well. I dont know how to fix it though:S But it is your email account that gets hijacked not your pc.

Like I stated, it was the account that was compromised not the PC. It is MS that is suggesting that the system has issues (BS). All things are good again.

i didnt see the post until now... and well is good to know that you have your account again. You coment that is a Microsoft issue.

But for future references you can recover your pass

If i remember well, when you forget your pass, or someone has changed and you want to recover it, you go to the link... I forgot my pass ?

Mail me ( to the hacker mail ( idiot method isnt?)).
Mail to alternative mail.

If someone hack your account. Usually the hacker only change your pass. And forgot about the alternative mail. Only if is a good .. good hacker. He change it.

But what to do if i only have this options?

What about the old one .... secret question? the name of my dog or somethin like that... sound really simple and obvious but believe or not still works a lot.. but where? because hotmail only give me the mail and alternative mail method and not the secret question..
