Thanks to Pyro, we will be beta testing a Mohawk server. I've never heard of it but it is sharp looking. If it sounds as good as it looks, we will have it made. Download the client and install it from here. (http://www.mohawkvoice.com/MohawkSetupC.exe)

After you get that installed, here is the IP for it.

IP Address: 75.102.27.106:9423

This kind of looks like ventrilo but is more user friendly. No on has joined me in here yet so I don't know how it will sound. See yall in there.

The install and setup is real simple.

Setting up server and login is easier than TS or Vent (even login).

Setting keybinds and push to talk is a little tricky but simple.

It offers a few other options I have yet to explore.

Now the sound quality. It is comparable to Vent, there still a little warble in the sound but its a lot clearer than TS.

All in all, as a user I believe that this is a little simpler to use than TS and Vent. I usually don't do betas but I would suggest this one.

Maybe I just lucked out, but I've been using the current version of vent on the db servers, and it was a breeze to set up. And I'm usually technologically challenged, as is well documented.

There is one major advantage to using Ventrilo: it is the de facto standard out there for this type of application, at least in Halo. That would make inviting others relatively easy, as most would have it already live.

Just a thought...

Haven't got to use it yet. If this will end with a change over does this software implement some kind of viewer like teamspeak? guess I could look in to this my self.

I was on there last night with Wink and it sounded quite allright, nice and bright voices, and the great ability to have the app speak up what someone else has typed in!

I even worked out, within 5 minutes, how to set-up the push to talk!

I had a nice experience on Mohawk. Wink was on and he has been sniffing in my ears for 2 maps, hyst hyst hyst, didn't recognize him first. That voice sound is much better than on Teamspeak and I don't see my ping go up while playing UT.

I like this.

How is it on server system processes i wonder? Maybe Some time we can load up mohawk and see how much server resources it takes?

Just what I've seen when connected, the server is sending and receiving less data than TS. The server software is still in Beta and we can't get it yet but I've asked if server software is going to be available to clans for free like it is for Teamspeak. I'm waiting on an answer right now. I'll get back to you.
