This morning my zalman mfc2 started to beep (it does that when a fan is not connected) out of nothing, the pc wasn't even on. I had to turn the power off to get it to be quiet again... I had no time to look into it, because I had to go to work.

When I got home this evening, I tried to power it up again, but the thing just started beeping instandly and the pc wouldn't turn on. I got the damn thing out and reconnected the cpu fan to the motherboard and tried starting it up. That worked only once, after that it wouldn't start up. The cpu fan was spinning slowly, but there was no activity, nor was the pc on...

Now I can get it to start up at all: I've tried two power supplies, and I don't think'that's the problem. I can't see anything unusual to the motherboard, nor have I changed any setting. I haven't had the change to look at the cpu, I don't have any thermal paste atm, so I rather not take the cooler of...

If anyone has any suggestions/hints/tips for what I could do or look at, they'd be much appreciated!

Oh, I will be MIA for a few days since that's my UT pc but I got a laptop to read the forums.

how many times does it beep (i.e. 3beeps 3 times). What is the make/model of you mother board. This could be mem, or processor. try pulling all the power connectors off the drives, try pwr up, then pull all cards, pwr up, replace one at a time to find the problem, if you pull all cards and pwr connectors to drives and it still does not pwr up, either one of three things, video, memory, or main logic. good luck bro

that also beeps when the RPM's get to low. Maybe one of your fans going bad?

After a few more attempts (and cutting my fingers numerious times on the friggin cpu cooler) it did fire up again, with the old power supply. The only things I had connected where the mainbord, vid card and 1 hdd. I'll be trying to connect more and more stuff and see if it keeps booting.

So I'm guessing the new power supply is either broken or putting out the wrong voltages, either way I'll be taking that back to the shop's to see if they can tell me anything about it. A cooler master 'real power' 620W shouldn't be dead within a month, when the max power consumption never get's above 320W.

Well, it seems fixed with my old PSU... It starts up again and when loading XP I don't even have time get me a coffee...

See you on the otherside of christmas back on the servers!
