Can you mute one player on the user end of TS? For some reason I think I have vague memory of being able to do that.
It's likely also that I could be crossing different things in my faulty memory.

Some of the newer cards like the Audigy LS have a line loopback feature that is enabled by default. If he doesn't have a mic then he probably has never configured his soundcard and this annoying feature is still active. Kindness had this same issue back when he built his latest computer and I discovered I had the same problem after reinstalling windows and linux and using my Audigy full time. This guy isn't a bad guy by any means and he has been playing on our servers under the name Zephiroth for a long time. If at all possible, if he does come back, someone give him a hand and tell him how to go to Push-to-talk so that he can at least hang with us and hear us. Have a good one.

My router allows me to change the MAC address manually. I can do this in just seconds and RoadRunner will issue me a new IP address. If I go back to a MAC address that I have used in the last month or so, I will get the same IP address I got the last time I used that MAC address. If I wait too long however, they will re-issue that IP address out to someone else.
I am under the impression that this feature of my router is not very common, but if he has the same router then there's an easy explanation for you.

Just depends where you are at, I guess. Some people just have to unplug and reconnect there router and they get a new IP address issued to them in 20 seconds. Then there are others like me, who have dynamic IP, but still keep the same IP address for months or even years no matter how many times they power down and power up.

There are clans that have a Teamspeak "radiostation" using this feature. When you get it setup right, it actually has a pretty decent sound. In your sound preferences in windows where you check and configure playback and recording, depending on your card, there is a 'what you hear' selection. If you don't mute this option in recording, the sound coming out of your card actually gets looped back in to the line in. If you throw a mic in the mix, suddenly you hear music, game sounds, and whatever sounds going on at the time playing louder than the mic. Things then begin to overdrive and suddenly you get feedback killing everyone else. There's bullshit in a nutshell. Sometimes, mostly not, but sometimes I actually sound like I know what I'm talking about... eh?
