For the Past week or so I have been having a problem with the ScarFace map. I never had it before but all of a sudden it has started to happen and has become worse. Last week when the map rotated to Scarface I would 50% of the time get an error message and UT would shut down all I had to do then was to reboot the PC and I could get back into Scarface. Now I get the error message when rotating to Scarface but not matter what I do the same error occurs and I can’t get back onto the server so long as Scarface is in play, any ideas?

At first I thought u meant the player...I was going to let you know he wasn't a clan member here...then hit him up on msn and give him heck ;)

I had a similar problem with a different map. You may have gone to a server which had a version of scarface with some of it's files edited...but...the person editing didn't change the file name...that's just a guess though....based on what happened to me.

Have you tried google searching the error?

i just googled the errorr and got really no where with it i think its like a glich in the game that does that becuse i havent ever had that trouble.

try deleteing the map and redownloading, if you cant find out why its keeps doing it.

I think I found the problem. I use to admin about 8 UT servers but that up until 5 years ago and I knew I had seen this before for some players and here is the supposed fix. Could an admin please check the package download settings as described below please. Because I know when I try to get into the Scarface map i do get a message of a package update dwld but the when the dwld is complete and I enter the map the error occures.

Package Download Problems

Look in your server's ini file and check the following in the [IpDrv.TcpNetDriver] section :

AllowDownloads=False
MaxDownloadSize=0 If AllowDownloads is set to false, a client will only be able to download files off a redirect site if redirection is enabled. Set it to true if you want to allow clients to download files directly off the server. Note that this will affect a server's performance. Also, MaxDownloadSize will limit the size of files (in bytes) that can be downloaded off the server.

I've uploaded a compressed UZ file to my redirect site and it starts downloading but is then refused.
This could be because the package on your server isn't the same version as the one on the redirect. Make sure the compressed file corresponds with the one you're using.

I get this error message when trying to connect to a server :
Assertion failed: !Reader.AtEnd() [File:..\..\Core\Inc\Fcodec.h] [Line: 324]
History: FCodecHuffman::Decode <- FCodecFull::Code <- FCodecFull::Decode <- UDownload::DownloadDone <-
UHTTPDownload::Tick <- TickDownload <- UnetConnection::Tick <- UNetDriver::TickFlush <- UNetPending::Tick
<- TickPending <- UGameEngine::Tick <- UpdateWorld <- Mainloop
The mention of the huffman codec (same used in zip) indicates a problem with decompression. This is most probably happening while downloading a file off a redirect. The solution is to recompress a good version of the file and reupload it. Also, if you are uploading to the redirect via FTP, be sure you are uploading in binary, not ASCII mode. Uploading compressed files for your redirect in ASCII mode will cause clients to crash if they attempt to access the file.

My ini is set up properly for redirection but the redirect doesn't seem to work at all when I connect to my server
Check RedirectToURL. If you have, for example, inserted a space before the url, redirection won't work.

Im going out on a small limb here, but I think the problem is on your side due to the fact that the problem is so isolated. I have not heard of any other complaints about connecting to that map. And i am gonna agree with DOOM on this one. COMPLETELY remove all of the map files for that map( using map manager or something like that), re download and see if the error stays.

Also open UT and try to start a practice session with scarface and make sure your files are not corrupt( but that is just a check)
but I will check INI just to see what it has to say anyway

I just read THE PHIL's comment above. I don't think it's isolated. For about the past 30min's the server has been empty. There were about 8 players and then nothing. Then I came here to see Jazz's post. I just checked the server and still no players and still keep getting error crash.

I know you folks have pulled that Scarface and Cloverleaf. I know you folks have pulled that Scarface and Cloverleaf. But I just wanted to respond to your earlier post and try to explain the potential problem. I did dump all maps in the cache. Seeing as how I no longer use a cache reaper that should have fixed the problem. But it did intact it cause me to always crash when Scarface came up in the rotation that is why it had to be a sever or rather the redirect naming problem combined with the game server. Now if I had used a cache reaper and permanently installed the map it would not want to do and update and thus no problem would occur. But who knows it could also be a mod issue..there are so many mods on the server that link to different maps. It would be very hard to tell what exactly is the problem. In fact when the guys this morning voted for Scarface at my request in and attempts to allow me to obtain a log of the problem I notice that in the log the country flag mod failed to load so many times from a single attempt to connect that I didn’t even want to try to count them. Just one blank space in a line that isn’t supposed to be there then combined with how long a client has that map or whatever stored in the cache then combined with the time limit for the cache storage you would never be able to tell there is or was a problem until that time limit ran out. So depending on when mods and maps time limits run out on a client that is when the problem might start to arise.

I have attached the log from this morning.

I do want to take a moment and say thank you to you and the rest of the FUN Clan for being such a quickly responsive group, GJ!

I would need to see your UnrealTournament.log file from when you tried to enter the server to be certain of what happened, but I think the uz file was overwritten with a different version by one of the other 4 clans that share our redirect webspace. To avoid future problems like this I will create a dedicated redirect account just for FUN clan servers and leave the public redirect for the other clans we supply for. Have a good one and take care.

Sorry I thought I had uploaded it yesterday. My error when I attempted to upld I failed to nnotice the the log still had the ".log" extension vs the need ".txt" extension. The Log inculdes two games the one before scarface and then scarface at the bottom.

Here is the culprit: scarefaceDFB. It's probably a texture file. I'll go ahead and recompress and re-upload it. Have a good one.
